It’s hard to describe the Tucson Gem and Mineral show. I was only able to go to 5 or 6 shows (after a while everything starts to look similar!), but that was definitely enough to see the tremendous variety of goods offered by international and local suppliers. Minerals, fossils, gems, beads, were all on display for sale to wholesalers, stores, designers and to the public. Sifting the good from the bad was easy, but dang, there was a LOT to sift through. It was super overwhelming at times, especially after seeing the same thing over and over again (fake Swarovski, glass beads, massage stones, tumbled rose quartz, etc.), but then I hit a choice booth and it’s like the heavens opened up. I got some great pale Jaspers, some great quality Amethyst, geometric cut Lapis, and some Chrysophase pairs. TO THE WORKSHOP!
