Andronyk Studio Named Western Living Fashion Designer of the Year 2024
What an incredible whirlwind and honor—I’m beyond thrilled to share that Andronyk Studio has been named Western Living Magazine’s Designer of the Year in the Fashion category for 2024! This recognition means so much to me and reflects my dedication to intriguing design, to the satisfaction of my clients and collectors, and to responsible and ethical gold and stone sourcing.
Each year, Western Living celebrates the talents shaping Western Canada’s design scene with their Designers of the Year Awards.
The categories were in Fashion, Architecture, Maker, Landscaping, Furniture, Industrial Design, Interior Design, and also two memorial awards; the Arthur Erickson Memorial Award, and the Robert Ledingham Memorial Award.
This year’s awards took place on September 12th at Inspiration Furniture in Vancouver, where I had the privilege of standing among so many talented and inspiring designers from across Western Canada. The night was filled with delicious food, wonderful conversation, and the fashion was just absolutely stunning! It was truly inspiring to see all the award winners receiving their well-deserved honors, especially when I admired their work so much. When it was my turn to speak and receive my award, I was moved by the warmth and recognition of the community.
Judges’ Comments from the Feature Article
In the Western Living Magazine feature announcing the winners, the judges shared their thoughts on what made Andronyk Studio stand out. Judge Karyna Schultz of Neighbour described my designs as having a
“brutalist quality that appeals"
...perfectly capturing the bold and raw aesthetic that drives my work.
Judge Gabrielle Bayona of Truvelle also highlighted my commitment to ethical sourcing, noting that:
“with solid gold jewellery becoming more popular, the use of not only recycled gold but also ARM-certified gold (Alliance of Responsible Mining) makes this collection a cut above—prioritizing ethical sourcing without sacrificing on style.”
I really appreciated the judges picking up on and recognizing the values that guide Andronyk Studio: bold, one-of-a-kind design rooted in sustainability and responsible practices.
